September 16, 2014—The Office of Pharmacy Affairs has announced that the annual recertification period for hospitals in the 340B program is now complete. According to the agency’s database, 27 hospitals failed to furnish the required paperwork and were cut from the program on Sept. 11. [ms-protect-content id=”2799″]
Despite the dropped hospitals, OPA said 2014 saw the lowest ever termination rate for “failing to recertify” in the program’s history. The re-up rate for all hospitals was 95 percent or higher. Cancer hospitals and rural referral centers posted 100 percent recertification.
OPA worked closely with hospital and pharmacy groups to maximize participation.
An analysis by SNHPA found that 13 disproportionate share hospitals, 12 critical access hospitals, and two sole community hospitals did not recertify.
